As we start the New Year we are all working on setting goals for our businesses and for our personal goals. Below are 5 tips to help you write resolutions for 2021.
- Setting resolutions is to determine to do something – But the actions and steps you take is what is going to make the resolutions happen. So when you decide on a resolution make sure that you also detail the steps you will take to accomplish that resolution. For example, if your resolution is to stop renting and buy your first home, have a detailed plan on how you will save extra money for your down payment.
- Write your resolutions down – the simple act of writing them down will make them real even if you do not share them with anyone else. If possible have them in a place you can see them often so that you can re-read them everyday if possible. It will also be of great satisfaction if you can cross them off when you have accomplished them.
- Do not keep your resolutions secret – if you are brave share your resolutions with a friend or partner. This will help you be accountable for what you have decided to accomplish for the year.
- Check in on the resolutions you made and check your progress – You can always make changes to your original goal if you think it’s too unrealistic. Be sure to give yourself some leeway if you slip up. Acknowledge that you had to make a change and then pick up where you left off to continue on the path of accomplishing your goals.
- Most importantly celebrate small successes and be sure you truly believe that you can accomplish your goals.
